Integrated wellness, redefined.

"The version of you you're looking for is already within you.
Soma Collective is a safe space to gently grow into it."

This is more than a practice. It is a space created with intention, where therapy feels gentler,

more human and more connected. A space where nothing is “wrong,” where something

within you is ready to be understood and empowered.

Soma Collective was born from this vision. “Soma” speaks to the body, to the parts of us that hold,

remember, and communicates in ways words sometimes can’t. “Collective” speaks to something

I value deeply, that healing doesn’t  happen in isolation, but in safe, meaningful connection.

As a psychotherapist, my work sits at the centre of this space, shaped by warmth, curiosity, and care.

BACKGROUND

Maxine completed her undergraduate degree in Counselling Psychology through the University of South Africa, followed by completing a Master of Science in Applied Psychology at London Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom, graduating with merit. In addition, Maxine completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Practice in Psychological Wellbeing at the University of Surrey, specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Maxine completed her internship as a Psychologist at Shrewsbury Court in Surrey, England, a mental health hospital specialising in the treatment of adults experiencing severe and complex mental health difficulties, including schizophrenia, psychosis, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, and drug-induced psychosis. Maxine remained at the hospital for two and a half years, further developing her clinical expertise within an intensive therapeutic setting. Maxine was subsequently headhunted by the NHS Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to join their Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), where she worked as a psychologist with children, adolescents, and their families. In this role, Maxine supported young people presenting with behavioural, emotional, and neurodevelopmental difficulties, with a particular focus on Autism and ADHD. Maxine’s clinical experience spans a diverse range of settings and client groups, reflecting both the depth and breadth of her therapeutic work. Across both adult and child services, Maxine worked as part of multidisciplinary teams alongside psychiatrists, social workers, and occupational therapists. This collaborative experience has enriched her clinical perspective and strengthened her ability to provide holistic, integrative care, both in individual therapy and within broader care systems. Maxine’s work over the years has provided her with valuable insight into a wide range of psychological presentations, varying in both nature and complexity. Maxine's therapeutic experience includes working on a one-to-one basis as well as facilitating group interventions. Maxine is committed to offering an empathetic, integrative, and holistic approach to therapy, recognising the uniqueness of each individual’s experience while creating a safe, supportive space for meaningful, empowering and lasting change.

THE SOMA APPROACH

My therapeutic approach is grounded in respect for each individual’s unique story and lived experience. I work

with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, creating a collaborative space where clients can explore,

reflect and grow at a pace aligned with their needs and goals. The process is tailored to each person, with a focus on building a safe and trusting relationship where clients feel seen, heard, and understood. This foundation supports meaningful, sustainable change, helping individuals reconnect with their strengths, build resilience, and navigate

life with greater clarity and confidence.

Beginning therapy is a meaningful step towards self care and wellbeing. Sessions are offered in person

and online, including for international clients. The process begins with an initial assessment to explore your

experiences and define clear goals, followed by regular sessions that provide a consistent and supportive space

for growth. Standard sessions are 50 minutes, with extended sessions available when more time is needed.
